After Anghiari, the track first drops into the Tiber valley, then turns into the long climb to Passo di Viamaggio. The road runs through woodland, bends and scattered houses; the pass sits just below 1,000 m. Beyond Badia Tedalda, the route moves onto the Adriatic side of the Apennines and follows the Valmarecchia through small towns towards Novafeltria. The final climb still has to be done: up to San Marino, with Monte Titano above the city.
