The stage from Gabrovo to Kazanlak forms the mountain highlight of the journey. It begins in green foothills before the road climbs steadily into the Stara Planina, gaining height through forest, bends and cooler mountain air. Shipka Pass brings the day’s grand perspective: wide views across the range, the Freedom Monument on Mount Stoletov and Buzludzha visible in the distance. From there, the route descends into the Rose Valley, where Kazanlak adds a softer finish with Thracian heritage and a warmer southern mood.
