Monfalcone is left through the flat plain below the Karst. The route runs via Staranzano and San Canzian d’Isonzo to Cervignano, then continues across Friuli with canals, fields and long straight roads. Torviscosa and San Giorgio di Nogaro add industrial history and the first sense of the lagoon country before the ride crosses into Veneto near Latisana. After the Tagliamento, the stage stays wide and low: villages, drainage channels, farmland. Via San Donà di Piave, it reaches Quarto d’Altino, a practical gateway to the Venice lagoon.
