After the ferry landing at Warnemünde, Day 4 turns inland: away from Baltic light and into wide-open Mecklenburg. Rostock still brings Hanseatic mood, brick facades and harbour air, then the roads get smaller. Through Laage, Teterow and Malchin, the route rolls across fields, avenues and the soft hills of Mecklenburg Switzerland; Lake Kummerow feels close by. Beyond Penzlin it becomes greener, quieter and more lake-filled. Neustrelitz arrives with its baroque layout and the sense of being deep in the Lake District.
