From Sassari, the morning route heads southwest toward the coast. The first intermediate stop is Alghero, where thick sandstone walls showcase Catalan history. Following a brief pause at the old harbor, the true centerpiece of the stage begins: the iconic SP105 coastal road to Bosa.
This ribbon of tarmac clings tightly to rugged, volcanic cliffs high above the Mediterranean Sea. Nearly free of traffic, the road snakes through raw Mediterranean scrub. Above the slopes of Cape Marargiu, riders can frequently spot rare griffon vultures catching thermal updrafts. Short, punchy rollers require steady physical effort.
The destination town of Bosa appears on the horizon, dominated by the Malaspina Castle. Its colorful houses line the banks of the Temo, the island's only navigable river.
