This 3-day cycling tour from Freiburg links the Rhine plain, Alsace and the Vosges into a compact loop with plenty of variety in a short distance. The route crosses into France via Breisach, passes Neuf-Brisach and Colmar, climbs through the wine villages at the edge of the Vosges, continues to Munster, then crosses Platzerwasel and Markstein to Thann before returning via Hartmannswillerkopf, Col Amic and the Rhine plain to Freiburg. Flat sections, Alsatian villages, vineyard slopes, forest climbs, exposed ridge roads and long open kilometres in the plain all sit close together. This tour is for riders looking for a short but serious Freiburg–Alsace–Vosges cycling route, easy to reach but with real climbing. The loop is short enough for a long weekend, but clearly more demanding than a simple border or wine-country ride. Each day has a different focus: first the shift from city and plain into the first longer climbs, then a proper Vosges day with sustained elevation, and finally a return stage with early pressure in the legs and long flat sections back into Germany.
